Reinforcing its dedication to animal welfare causes, COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises turned over a cash donation to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) last February 29, 2024 as part of its UNMASKED: The COMCO Mundo Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3.
Led by COMCO Mundo Group Chief Executive Director and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel/Partner and Co-Founder Ferdinand Bondoy, Senior Executive Initiatives and Communications Officer Paula Sison, and Executive Initiatives and Communications Associate Ronette Tibay, a turnover meeting was held with PAWS Executive Director Anna Cabrera, Director Cristina Martinez, and Campaign Officer Sharon Yap.
Ms. Yap invited the team for an immersive tour of the rehabilitation center where the conditions of the rescued animals were explained and the organization’s efforts such as providing medical care, neutering, and spaying services, rehabilitative care, and more were shared. Most of the rescued animals on the premises were victims of animal abuse and human neglect. Aside from rehabilitating the rescued animals to a better way of living, PAWS also becomes the voice of the voiceless by focusing on getting justice for them by taking legal action as mandated by the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

The cash donation was part of the winning prize for the top storytellers of UNMASKED: The COMCO Mundo Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3, a project aimed at igniting positive change by challenging storytelling and blogging communities in the country to unmask the untold stories of their everyday heroes. PAWS’ advocacy resonated deeply with Ms. Marjorie Uy, the 4th runner-up winner of the initiative, as she selected the organization as the beneficiary of the donation.
