COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, in line with its traditional year-end outreach service through its Citizen COMCO advocacy program, has extended its support to the victims of a series of earthquakes in Mindanao in December 2023.
The purpose-driven company initiative was channeled through the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
With the aim to create social change through impactful campaigns, the Citizen COMCO is the group of companies’ forefront of advocacy and development work since its creation in 2016 through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Citizen COMCO focuses on campaigns for various sectors including children and women, wildlife and environment, health and wellness, and heritage and culture.
Last December, a series of high-magnitude and high-intensity earthquakes and aftershocks struck the Province of Surigao del Sur and a portion of Mindanao. Due to its impact, a tsunami warning was also issued for the coastal areas of Surigao Del Sur and Davao Oriental.
These major quakes resulted in heavy damage in Region 11 and CARAGA region leaving earthquake-landslide, structural fires, and interruption of power and water supply affecting a total of 178,814 families or 720,997 persons. Ultimately, the earthquakes resulted in 79 injuries and three deaths.
With the catastrophic effects brought upon by the recent disaster, COMCO Mundo turned its efforts to providing support to the affected communities in the southern regions of the Philippines.
Forming part of the yearend outreach efforts of COMCO, our COMCO Squadron raised funds for the victims of the recent earthquakes under the agency’s Citizen COMCO initiative. The amount raised by the COMCO employees including consultants was doubled by COMCO Mundo for the overall agency donation.
COMCO Mundo chose the GMA Kapuso Foundation to channel the agency’s efforts. Composed of individuals aiming to serve Filipinos, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is a non-governmental organization that elevates the underprivileged sectors in the country through their humanitarian endeavors.
“Since our humble beginnings, the Citizen COMCO Advocacy Program has always been a core part of our company. We believe that through this program, our clients, brands, and especially our employees can help further the social good and spread awareness about our advocacies. It really starts from within and we hope that through these collective actions, COMCO can further ignite social change. We are also confident that through the GMA Kapuso Foundation, our support will come a long way and help our brothers and sisters in Mindanao to recover and gain strength. And we’re looking forward to more collaborations between COMCO Mundo alongside its partner brands and GMA Kapuso Foundation,” said COMCO Mundo Group Chief Executive Director and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel / Partner and Co-Founder Mr. Ferdinand L. Bondoy.
