How often should you post on LinkedIn this 2026? A study by social media management platform Buffer dove deep into insights to reveal the optimal post frequency for brands.
Communications and marketing professionals have often been on the end of conflicting reports about social media post frequency—with some recommending once a week posting to avoid audience burnout, and others swearing by multiple posts in a day to get picked up by the algorithm.
With Buffer’s recent study collecting data from over 2 million posts from 94,000 LinkedIn accounts, it was found that the best approach is to increase the number of posts per week on LinkedIn which helps the platform distribute content more widely, resulting in higher average reach and engagement per post.
Dividing it into three recommendations, the research concluded that 2 to 5 posts per week will help grow audiences in a sustainable way, while 6 to 10 posts per week can help accelerate reach and engagement, and more than 11 posts per week can maximize growth if pages are able to maintain the quality of their posts.
It was also found that while text posts remain relevant and a simple way to publish on the platform, image posts generate more than 72% more engagement and video posts earn 84% more. PDF document posts or carousel posts are the best at gaining traction for brands, which results in 278% more engagement than videos, 303% more than images, and nearly 600% more than text posts.
While increasing the frequency of posting shows no downsides, it should not come at the cost of quality. Take note of the best way to engage your audiences and prioritize sustainability when it comes to creating content. Whether taking it slow with 2 to 5 posts per week or maximizing your efforts with more than 11 posts per week, the main goal is to publish meaningful posts that will keep your audiences engaged.
