After six months of comprehensive and holistic training, the Camp COMCO Cycle 21 apprentices have finally concluded their apprenticeship with COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises.
Organized by COMCO Mundo’s training and education unit, COMCO School of Communications, the Camp COMCO Mentorship Program is a comprehensive and intensive talent incubation initiative, industry linkage course, and apprenticeship program. It has been awarded by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) as a Global Gold Quill winner for its mission of transforming fresh graduates and students majoring in marketing, communication, and multimedia arts into game changers and rockstars of the communications industry and related fields.
During the span of their training, the apprentices underwent different courses that helped them acclimate to COMCO Mundo’s own brand of meaningful storytelling. The program was divided into three phases: Skills Calibration; Strategic Communications Immersion; and Specialization Elective led by COMCO Mundo’s pool of expert mentors.
The eight COMCOwans of Cycle 21, Shane Jhastin Picson, Melany Diane Mabagos, Gabrielle Belmonte, Maria Michaela Arosa, Nicole Francesca Bamba, Sharmaine Irish Padua, Peter Bryan Pitas, and Amy Ruth Valenzuela, were not only able to participate in various mentoring sessions, they were also given opportunities to interact with experts in the field, work on actual projects, and learn about the latest innovations in the communications industry.
For Peter Pitas, Camp COMCO was a fulfilling experience “Camp COMCO was fulfilling, personally and socially. Personally, the training program opened me to what the industry looks like. Socially, I met so many people who have helped me grow into a better communications practitioner ready to face the world after college.”
As apprentices under the COMCO Mundo and its different groups: COMCO Southeast Asia, COMCO’s flagship PR agency; TARO AOX Inc., COMCO’s specialist Digital and Integrated Communications Agency; and SEA Wave Magazine, COMCO’s Southeast Asian digital magazine, the COMCOwans were able to learn different skills to prepare for them for the industry at large.
For this reason, Maria Michaela Arosa stated that Camp COMCO was “Out of all the internships that I’ve done, this is the most intensive. Through COMCO, I experienced not only what an internship feels like but I was also exposed to how the industry really works.”
Shane Jhastin Picson affirmed this by stating that the program is one-of-a-kind in fostering its apprentices, “There are a lot of talented people in the world but it takes the right environment to bring out that talent. And Camp COMCO not only builds that talent but also helps the character of its apprentices grow for the better.”
In a message for the Cycle 21 graduates, COMCO Mundo Group Chief Executive Director and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel / Partner and Co-Founder Mr. Ferdinand Bondoy stated that the goal of Camp COMCO has always been to train apprentices who will eventually become part of the COMCO’s team.
Mr. Bondoy shared, “With Camp COMCO, we wanted to create a program that imparted the industry’s best practices to students and fresh graduates in the communications field while also incorporating interactive and creative activities to expand their horizons. We wanted to bridge the knowledge that they gained from the academe into real working experience that they can expect in a professional setting. By ensuring a holistic mentorship program, we aim to train apprentices that will become professionals who are ready and excited to embrace the challenges of the industry once they graduate from the program.”
As Camp COMCO Cycle 21 closers, the Camp COMCO Mentorship Program has also recently opened Cycle 22 to students and fresh graduates in the fields of communications, marketing, multimedia arts, and other related fields.
