Citizen COMCOFor the past eight years, COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises (which started as COMCO Southeast Asia) has been driven to ignite social change. As part of this pursuit, COMCO Mundo developed the Citizen COMCO Advocacy Program, the group’s advocacy arm focused on furthering social good by supporting causes through corporate social responsibility (CSR), advocacy communications, cause related marketing, development communications, and community relations.

As COMCO Mundo’s advocacy arm, Citizen COMCO champions advocacy work for children, youth and education; wildlife and environment; heritage and culture; social enterprise; and the Southeast Asian integration. Citizen COMCO is both a service provided by the company for its clients, NGOs and brands alike, and a mission carried out by the company and its employees and mentorship program alumni to help further the social good and spread awareness about the advocacies they believe in.

In the program’s 2nd year, Citizen COMCO received industry recognition, winning the 2018 IABC Quill Award of Merit for Communication Management – Corporate Social Responsibility through its close work and partnerships with several reputable local and national non-government organizations (NGOs) such as WWF, World Vision, Called to Rescue, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Unilab Foundation, Best Alternatives, Make-A-Wish Foundation, PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society), Philippine Eagle Foundation, Save The Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Gawad Kalinga, Humanility, CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) Welfare Philippines, and the World Health Organization. This recognition is a testament to the positive impact and lasting change that the program has been able to impart to the communities it has touched.

Aside from its award-winning work with NGOs, Citizen COMCO has also worked with brands such as airasia, Lamoiyan Corporation’s Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo, and Century Tuna for various CSR efforts. The agency also leads its own yearly outreach program, COMCOlidays with Kids, to bring joy to vulnerable children in alternative care during the holiday season. Some of the organizations COMCO has partnered with for this annual activity are Little Angels Home, Inc., SOS Children’s Villages, and Precious Heritage Children’s Home.

During the pandemic, the Citizen COMCO Advocacy Program also led several activities to support frontliners and affected communities such as working with World Vision as its communications partner for COVID-19 emergency response programs, raising funds with the Camp COMCO Alumni Society to prepare food for Philippine General Hospital (PGH) workers, donating cat and dog food to the Happy Alpha Project for animals that were displaced during the Taal volcanic eruption, and providing financial assistance to the #CagayanNeedsHelp relief drive by Bloggers of Tuguegarao that aimed to help Cagayanos affected by typhoon Ulysses.

Most recently, #ourCOMCOsquadron participated in an internal fundraising project for victims of the earthquake in Mindanao, where the total amount raised was doubled by the company and turned over to the GMA Kapuso Foundation. And through the most recent season of its Write to Ignite Initiative, the agency was able to donate to selected organizations by the top five winners, which are Make-A-Wish Foundation, PAWS, Philippine Eagle Foundation, Save the Children, and SOS Children’s Villages through the UNMASKED: Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3. Previous seasons of the Write to Ignite Initiative were also able to make donations to NGOs like World Vision, WWF, Gawad Kalinga and Humanility.

While Citizen COMCO has been at the forefront of advocacy and development work since its establishment in 2016, the agency and its community and partners continue to lend a helping hand to vulnerable people and communities in need.
